Vaastu for Women
Can you throw light on Vaastu for women or in other words Vaastu principles applicable in the widely used space kitchen and Puja rooms? Priyanka Gupta
The tenets of Vaastu are truly secular and without any bias; they pertain to direction-based allocation of zones to the various household functions in a dwelling. Here are some guidelines for women and aimed at creating awareness of Vaastu in the kitchen and Puja (worship) room.
The kitchen is one of the most important places in the house. It should be constructed in the Agni corner or the South-East corner with more space in the East.
The cooking stove or gas platform should be placed in the South-East and it should be lit facing the East.
The kitchen sink should be in the North-East of the kitchen. The drinking water storage too has to be in the North-East of kitchen.
The storage shelves should be on the South and West walls of the kitchen and not the Northern or Eastern walls. Heavy articles like refrigerators etc. should be placed in the South or West of the kitchen.
A kitchen in the North-East corner can result in bad health of women. Also women will tend to suffer from chronic diseases and/or depression if the kitchen is in the South-West. This will lead to a financial drain.
The best place, especially for an unmarried daughter is in the North-West corner of the kitchen.
However, it needs to be cautioned that these Vaastu guidelines do not cover the Vaastu of Island kitchens and the kitchens in outhouses. There Vaastu principles applicable to these kitchens are very different from the standard kitchens.
The dining table should be rectangular. Avoid fancy or multi-shaped dining tables. Place the dining table away from the walls. You can have paintings in the dining room but they should not be of wild animals.
There is a difference between pictures of Gods and Goddesses that are hung on walls and the pictures/idols of Gods and Goddesses that are worshipped in the Puja or worship room. The pictures of Gods and Goddesses that are hung on walls can face in any direction, but the pictures/idols of Gods and Goddesses that are worshipped in the Puja room should not face North or South.
